I realized that my paddle from my 5-quart mixer (the Artisan) and its whisk fit perfectly with the 3-quart bowl. SO, you can use the smaller bowl, and other attachments as well. I've had mine for about a year, and though the combi-whip has its purposes (as you said, pie dough is great!), I feel that it's not the best with cookie dough: enter the Artisan Paddle. :D Oh, I love my bowl!!
