Ah, good tip. I don't have a 5 quart mixer but maybe could pick up paddle from eBay or order from KA. Thanks!

I haven't done a boule, yet, but I do use it for pizza! It makes amazing pizza. :D I got some of the "private reserve" evoo from TJ's and some coarse sea salt, then I spread both of those on, sprinkle a LOT of Penzey's dried rosemary, and I find it as the best snack ever!

Giada's marinara is my absolute favorite marinara recipe--probably because of its ease. I make it in acres and then pressure can it, so I can keep it on the shelf. Anyway, it makes a rockin' pizza sauce, and goes so well with this dough!! I love it!

Oh, I love my bowl!! I realized that my paddle from my 5-quart mixer (the Artisan) and its whisk fit perfectly with the 3-quart bowl. SO, you can use the smaller bowl, and other attachments as well. I've had mine for about a year, and though the combi-whip has its purposes (as you said, pie dough is great!), I feel that it's not the best with cookie dough: enter the Artisan Paddle. :D

KN, thanks again for recommending the book. I agree that it may not make the perfect artisan bread, but it does make tasty bread and the ease of preparation cannot be beat. The olive oil is my favorite too. Have you used it for anything other than flat bread? Will it make a nice boule?

I really do love this book, for the same reasons as you said. If you are absolutely of failure when making bread, with this book, you really can't fail!! And, if finding time to make bread among all the other daunting tasks, the book rocks. Of course, if you are totally into artisan breads in their perfect state, walk away. :) But, I do feel like this book is fantastic---and more than anything, it wipes away any excuse I've ever heard that homemade bread is complicated or takes too much time. :D

Your photos are gorgeous! The olive oil is my absolute favorite dough (so far, of course). :)

Ooh, I wish it did make ht bed! I've picked these up before (and put them back) in total curiosity. I'm glad to here that they work so well! Perhaps it's just what I need to move my bootie into more apple desserts. :)

I've used the larger saute pan for one pot meals and the smaller on for mincemeat pie filling and to cook quinoa. I'm enjoying them immensely. Thanks for posting. :D

Knowing others have failed too, makes it a little easier. :) Let me know if you come across a similar recipe that actually does work.

Well, I'm not happy you failed, but I'm glad I'm not the only one! I have tried this recipe several times, and it just doesn't work for me. :( We are both in different parts (I'm in Minnesota), so comparison of humidity won't work. For some reason, I just can't do this recipe. Go figure.
