I live in California. We are undergoing a severe drought and everyone is strongly encouraged to conserve water. I was talking to a friend recently about how to do this. I mentioned that eating a vegan (plant based) diet saves a lot of water, but I didn’t know how much. So I did a little research and was pleasantly surprised to learn that eating a plant based diet saves approximately 600 gallons of water per day, per person.
My husband and I have been vegetarian for more than twenty years, and now vegan for two and half years. In just 2 1/2 years we have each saved enough water (547,500 gallons) to more than fill up a 500,000 gallon water tank.
That’s a lot of water!
Just one more good reason to go vegan!
