I go through periods where I draw almost daily. Then I run out of steam, run out of ideas, and I stop. I’m on a roll lately. I started doodling cats. I was particularly bad at drawing cats and it was frustrating as I love them so much. So, I decided to take the same approach as I do for my other 10,000 bad drawings and just go for it. Bad or not, I would keep drawing. The cool thing is that I’m getting better. Not good, just better. This is not a humblebrag, which I hate. There is usually something off about the drawings. One eye is higher than the other. One ear is off kilter. However, they all seem to be forming a style and I like them. They’re cute, as my sweetie will say when I show them to him.
A Facebook friend asked where I draw my inspiration. I told him it was mainly a cat calendar I had on my desk. That gave me an idea to use shelter cats and post them to social media. I’ve been doing that to my Instagram. Many of the cats I’ve drawn have been adopted. That’s not my doing, I only have a few followers, but maybe it’s putting good kitty karma out in the Universe.
